As a senior member, the cow boss is in charge of all that goes on, and he is an essential part of the operation.  He has earned the respect of the seasoned hands and the admiration of the young cowboys.  He makes certain that all the duties are carried out, and the customs and principles of a working ranch outfit are upheld.
